Michael Kent Jnr’s ‘summer job’ brings in the latest signings

Those familiar with Cranbourne coach Michael Kent Jr’s Instagram account will know he has spent a lot of time in the European sun this year.

While Kent Jnr and his wife Ali have been touring the ‘Mediterranean’, the holiday inevitably turned into a busy one, resulting in the stable’s latest additions: Move On In and Saganti.

Move On In was the first purchase for the Price/Kent stable, a three-year-old gelding whose last start at Haydock Park really caught Kent Junior’s attention.

“Ultimately it’s a low-risk play,” said Kent Jnr punters.com.au.

“I was really impressed with his run at Haydock Park and he should impress on the hard deck.”

In addition to the stable’s loyal group of owners, Move On In will be joined by New Zealand businessman and philanthropist Sir Owen Glenn.

Glenn, who has enjoyed success in the past, has owned franchises such as Criterion, Russian Revolution, and Artorius, to name a few.

Move On In will head straight to Cranbourne from quarantine next week, while Saganti will travel to Newmarket with the stable’s Royal Ascot rider Kitty Rose.

The three-year-old stallion has started in numerous group races, including the Grand Prix de Paris (G1), Prix du Lys Longines (G3) and Criterium International (G1).

From the moment Kent Jnr met the son of Group 1 winner Zarak, he immediately fell in love with him.

“During my trip to Chantilly, I was shown about 20 horses in 15 different stables,” he said.

“Of all the horses I saw, he was the one I wanted to buy as soon as possible.”

However, the Group 1-winning trainer was not the only person interested in acquiring the stallion.

A similar opinion was expressed by Terry Henderson, an outstanding athlete and co-founder of OTI Racing.

“I didn’t know Terry (Henderson) had also watched it separately and liked it as well,” Kent Jr. revealed.

“When he told me about it, I knew right away we had to make a deal.

“He has great speed, holds the ground well and is simply an exciting prospect for the stable.

“He will leave France with a rating of 107 and land with a rating in the mid-80s, but we are confident that will improve in due time.”
