Cathy Repola Retires as Executive Director of Motion Editors Guild

Cathy Repola will retire from her position as national executive director of the Motion Picture Editors Guild at the end of January 2025.

Repola has been with the Editors Guild, IATSE Local 700, for 32 years and has served as national executive director since 2016. A search committee will be formed to fill the position.

“Working for Guild has been an incredibly rewarding career,” Repola said. “I have always been deeply committed to Guild and our mission, and deeply connected to our members. Now I have reached a point in my life where I want to shift my priorities to my loved ones and friends.”

“Cathy has been an indispensable leader for Guild over the past eight years. She has helped us successfully navigate some of the most difficult and complex contract negotiations in our history and through many difficult times, and she has done it all with extraordinary courage and grace. Whoever replaces her will have some very big shoes to fill,” said Guild President Alan Heim, ACE.

The Motion Picture Editors Guild represents approximately 9,000 post-production professionals, including picture editors, sound editors, mixers and others, in Los Angeles and New York.
