These 7 Sports Moms Are Making the 2024 Paris Olympics a Family Affair

Minutes after the New Zealand rowing team won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, they picked up their children (born just a few months apart) for a celebration with a hug. “Raising kids is hard,” Francis said at the time. “It takes a village, and we had a village behind us the whole way. That just makes it even more special. Just the fact that our families are here, let alone our kids, and our kids get to see that legacy.”

Brittney Griner

Griner is likely the newest parent on this list, as she and her wife, Cherelle, welcomed their son, Bash, just a month ago on July 8. Griner noted that heading to Paris for the 2024 Olympics wasn’t an easy decision — “It kind of sucks because I have to go, but at the same time, he understands,” she recently said on the podcast — but hopefully Team USA’s spot in the Olympic quarterfinals will help sweeten the deal.

Nada Hafez

The 26-year-old Egyptian fencer competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics while seven months pregnant with her first child, calling herself “carrying a little Olympian inside me.” (Are you crying? Because we are.) “My baby and I have had our share of challenges, both physical and emotional,” Hafez wrote on Instagram. “Halloween while pregnant is hard enough on its own, but the struggle of balancing life and sports has been nothing short of exhausting, yet so worthwhile.”
