Discount chain Big Lots is closing 75 stores in California, new regulatory documents show.

The 386-page document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission details new terms for loans with creditors. Two months ago, Big Lots said it would close 150 stores, but that number has grown to 315.

California is taking the biggest hit. By the time the last 75 stores close, only 34 locations will be open in the state. At least 30 of the closures are in Southern California.

The Ohio-based discounter cited the U.S. economy and “macroeconomic challenges” like inflation for curbing customer spending. First-quarter sales fell nearly 10%. The company reported a net loss of $205 million for the period in its earnings conference call.

Big Lots, which has about 1,389 stores in the United States, is the latest of several retailers to close multiple locations due to declining sales.

Earlier this year, all 99 Cents Only stores closed. Many of those empty California locations are going to Dollar General after parent company Dollar Tree bought the leases in a bankruptcy sale.
