Cathie Wood Buys 224K AMZN Shares in 5 of Her 6 Actively Managed ETFs

Cathie Wood, CIO and CEO of Ark Invest, stepped in this week and bought almost 225,000 shares of Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) in five of its six actively managed ETFs, with most purchases made by ARK Innovation’s flagship ETF (NYSEARCA:ARKK).

Wood and her firm began increasing positions in Amazon (AMZN) this week on Monday, which also coincided with the same day ARKK fell to its lowest trading level of 2024, falling to $36.85 per share. It was also ARKK’s lowest level since early November 2023.

In total, Wood and her team purchased 224,746 AMZN shares through the ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK), ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (NYSEARCA:ARKW), ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (BAT:ARKQ), ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF) and ARK Space Exploration & Innovation ETF (ARKX).

In total, ARKK has amassed 155,685 AMZN shares, while ARKW has acquired 22,217 shares of the e-commerce giant this week. At the same time, ARKQ and ARKF have acquired 21,330 and 22,391 Amazon (AMZN) shares, respectively.

Even ARKX, a fund that provides access to finance for space exploration, joined the group, buying 3,123 shares of AMZN.

Wood’s ETF Challenges

• ARKK is lower this year by 21.2%and investors withdrew USD 2.25 billion.
• ARKW trades 3.6% lower than in 2024, and USD 435.14 million flowed out of the fund.
• ARKQ is -9.2% On a year-over-year basis, the company returned $242.89 million.
• ARKF collapsed 6.2% in 2024 and will lose $316.89 million as investors pull out of the fund.
• ARKX is in the red 6.1% and recorded an outflow of funds of USD 43.23 million in 2024.
