Gebrüder Weiss creates custom solution to streamline logistics for Chinese premium spirits retailers

Shanghai / Lauterach, August 8, 2024 In the Far East, international transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss offers dedicated e-commerce solutions for some of China’s most prestigious baijiu brands. Made from fermented sorghum or other grain varieties, baijiu is considered the national drink of China and is one of the most popular spirits in the world. Premium baijiu brands are considered luxury goods and status symbols in China.

“We set up a warehouse in western China’s Chengdu city, fully equipped with our own team, and developed a logistics solution designed to meet the specific requirements of premium spirits brands,” notes Yongquan Chen, general manager of Gebrüder Weiss in China. Gebrüder Weiss operates 19 branches in the Greater China region.

The company’s services include warehousing, packaging, delivery throughout China, insurance options, tracking and professional customer service. Once a customer orders these products through any of China’s numerous online retail platforms, the relevant data is sent directly to Gebrüder Weiss for order fulfillment. The goods are then picked up from the warehouse, checked, coded and packaged before being shipped to the end customer by truck or air freight. Many of these famous spirits are produced in and around Chengdu, the main metropolis in Sichuan Province. Chengdu is the most modern and economically important city in western China and serves as a key transportation hub. Gebrüder Weiss has operated its own location here since 2006.

Gebrüder Weiss services baijiu brands including Quanxing, Fenggu, Jiangkouchun, Sichuan Liquor Group (Chidu) and Xiaojiaolou. “Gebrüder Weiss’ services have improved our logistics and reduced the number of damages to our products during transportation,” says Wang Xikai, head of e-commerce at Quanxing. “This has improved our customers’ shopping experience and helped us stay ahead of the fierce competition in e-commerce.”

Premium spirits brands face many challenges when it comes to e-commerce and warehousing. “If the spirits themselves and their packaging are not professionally managed and tracked, it allows for counterfeit products to enter the market, damaging the brand’s reputation and undermining customer trust,” explains Yongquan Chen. Flexibility, quick response times and reliable customer service are key to enabling brands to adapt to changes in consumer patterns and consumption patterns.

Tracking guarantees authenticity

Traceability throughout the process is essential: high-quality baijiu products are expensive, and customers need to be sure they are genuine originals. “The authenticity of any returned products must also be verified,” Yongquan Chen emphasizes. “Our tracking and management system, with unique QR codes and corresponding order numbers, ensures this.” The inventory system assigns each order the right-sized package or gift box. The customer service team handles any after-sales issues, such as out-of-date orders or address changes, quickly and professionally.

Continuous improvement

As an international transport and logistics company with over 500 years of history, Gebrüder Weiss focuses on the continuous improvement of supply chains. The organization’s expertise in developing industry-specific strategic plans for customer improvement and development distinguishes Gebrüder Weiss from other logistics companies.
