Excise Department introduces new vehicle registration rules in Islamabad

Pakistan

Registration of vehicles with non-standard license plates will be canceled

ISLAMABAD (APP) – The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department in Islamabad has made significant changes to vehicle registration and number plate rules in the federal capital, affecting fees and penalties for non-compliance.

The spokesman said the E&T department had introduced new regulations regarding vehicle registration and number plates.

Vehicle registrations with non-standard number plates will now be cancelled. Vehicle owners will have to pay a re-registration fee to comply with the new standards.

For vehicles with engines up to 1,000 cc, the re-registration fee is Rs 5,000. Vehicles with engines between 1,000 cc and 2,000 cc will also be charged a re-registration fee of Rs 10,000. However, owners of vehicles with engines above 2,000 cc will have to pay a higher fine of Rs 20,000.

Motorcycles are also subject to these changes, with a re-registration fee of Rs 1,000. If a vehicle is found to be in breach of the new rules more than once, the fine increases significantly. Repeat offenders will have to pay five times the original fee.

These new measures aim to standardize vehicle registration and ensure compliance with updated regulations. Vehicle owners are asked to update their registration and license plates to avoid heavy fines.
