The update includes changes aimed at modernizing and improving the city’s spatial development regulations.

– The Paso Robles City Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed comprehensive update to Title 21 of the Paso Robles Municipal Code, including amendments to the zoning map. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Conference Center, located at 1000 Spring Street in Paso Robles.

The comprehensive update, designated Rezone 23-02 (P23-0063), includes changes designed to modernize and improve the city’s zoning regulations. Highlights of the proposed updates include:

  • Providing intuitive and user-friendly development recipes;
  • Eliminating conflicts to create an internally consistent document;
  • Compliance with the latest regulations and case law; and
  • Modernization of the Zoning Code to incorporate best practices, with a focus on streamlining the housing entitlement and permitting processes, and ensuring flexibility and innovation.

“This overhaul of the zoning code is a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together as a community,” said Ty Christensen, chairman of the Planning Commission. “I am incredibly proud of the collective effort that has brought us to this point, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the future of our city.”

This project is city-initiated and is intended to align the zoning code with the current needs and growth goals of Paso Robles. The update also ensures compliance with state law and increases the overall effectiveness of land use regulations.

Written public comments may be submitted via email to [email protected] or by mail to the Community Development Department at 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446. Comments received by noon on the day of the meeting will be included as an addendum to the agenda.

Those interested in reading the project team’s report will be able to view it in the city library and on the city’s website (www.prcity.com/meetings) until Friday, August 9, 2024.
