Filming has begun for the third series of Beyond Paradise

Filming has begun on the highly anticipated third season of the hit crime series Beyond Paradise.

Co-commissioned with BritBox International and available on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, the new series will provide more intriguing puzzles for the Shipton Abbott team to solve. Fans will also be delighted to be reunited with Humphrey and Martha, who almost got hitched in the previous series, as they continue their emotional adoption journey.

Winner of the TV Choice Awards for Best New Drama this year, the series remains one of the most watched dramas in the UK.

The third series will see the return of Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd, Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd, Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins, Jade Harrison as CS Charlie Woods and Melina Sinadinou as Zoe Williams. Jamie Bamber will also reprise his role as the charming Archie Hughes, who returns after leaving Shipton Abbott at the end of the first series.

Set against the idyllic backdrop of Devon and Cornwall, the film is packed with cases to keep the team on their toes, including a body found in a river on the county border, a surprising case of chocolate poisoning, a historic farmers’ feud and a drug-related incident on the water.

Away from the police station, Martha and Humphrey must overcome unexpected obstacles as foster parents, while the reappearance of Martha’s old flame, Archie, presents an unexpected challenge. While Esther copes with an unexpected reunion in her personal life, Anne’s health issues bring up painful memories, and Kelby embarks on a journey of personal growth.

Tim Key, Executive Producer at Red Planet Pictures, says: “We are delighted to be returning to the beautiful South West to film what promises to be our strongest series yet, packed with mystery, surprises, challenges and plenty of heart. We have loved making this series and the response from audiences has been fantastic, and it is particularly exciting to welcome Jamie Bamber back to Shipton Abbott – we can’t wait for everyone to see what we have been up to.”

Created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan, Beyond Paradise is a joint commission between the BBC and BritBox International and is produced by Red Planet Pictures, part of Asacha Media Group, which was recently acquired by Fremantle. Tony Jordan, Tim Key and Belinda Campbell are executive producers for Red Planet Pictures, Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC, and Robert Schildhouse and Stephen Nye for BritBox International. Lindsay Hughes is a producer.

Beyond Paradise is distributed internationally by BBC Studios. The first and second series have been sold to 135 countries worldwide.

Beyond Paradise series one and two are now available to watch on iPlayer in the UK and on BritBox International in North America and Nordic markets.
