Arunachal crackdown: 155 caught without permits on internal line

The Arunachal Pradesh police identified 155 violators of Inner Line Permit (ILP) rules during a special drive in the state capital, an officer said.

The capital city’s Superintendent of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh said the operation, launched on Friday, had nabbed the criminals from Ganga village, Chimpu and Ganga market area. After due process, the criminals were brought out from Hollongi and Gumto checkpoints.

The Superintendent announced that ILP checks would be intensified in the coming days and called on the public to cooperate in curbing illegal immigration, encouraging citizens to report any cases of ILP violations to the authorities.

ILP is mandatory for Indian nationals to enter Arunachal Pradesh. The permit for temporary visitors lasts for 15 days and is renewable, while employment-related permits for individuals and their families last for a year.
