India’s food processing sector is set to see massive growth by 2027

The domestic food market in India is expected to grow by over 47% to reach $1.274 billion by 2027, as detailed in a report by the Confederation of Indian Industry, supported by Danfoss India. The study highlights the growing opportunities in the southern states, especially for innovative startups using cutting-edge technology to lead the growth.

Among the highlights is Tamil Nadu’s leading role in processed fruits, juices and nuts exports, valued at USD 220.81 million in 2023-24. The report highlights the transformative potential of technology in ensuring quality, safety and increasing export opportunities, while emerging segments like millets and plant-based milk alternatives are bringing economic benefits to farmers.

Highlighting key advances, Danfoss India launched the Optyma Pack condensing unit, an energy-efficient solution for the dairy industry that is designed to optimise milk temperature and reduce carbon footprint, thereby supporting India’s sustainable food production goals.
