Multidisciplinary resource center opens in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. — The Tropical Story Debby disaster relief facility in Sarasota is now open.
The Multi-Agency Resource Center is located at Sarasota Christian Church, 2923 Ashton Road, Sarasota.
Local and state resources will be available.
Here are the times and dates:

  • Today, Saturday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 11, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, August 12, 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Interested individuals are encouraged to call 311 if they need transportation to the facility. These free rides from anywhere in Sarasota County to the facility will be one-way. Once the resident has completed their stay at the facility, they should call 311 to request a ride home. No new rides to the facility will be accepted for one hour after the facility closes, and only return rides will be made during that time. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are also available.
Free rides are also available via Lyft to the resource center, as well as the Woodmere Park Evacuation Center. Rides are available using the code DEBBYRELIEF24. It is good for two rides for $25 each through Aug. 11 at 11:59 p.m.

SOCIAL RESOURCES
Beginning Saturday, from 1 to 6 p.m., county crews will be in Pinecraft, Laurel Meadows and Phillippi Creek each day to distribute supplies to residents of towns most impacted by the storm.
Supplies of basic necessities may vary but could include buckets, hygiene kits, water, baby supplies, baby food and cleaning products.

EMERGENCY CLEANING HOTLINE
If you need assistance with Hurricane Debby recovery, call 1-844-965-1386 to connect with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups, and faith communities.

These groups can help remove manure, trees, tarps, and debris. All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to overwhelming demand. This hotline will be open until Friday, August 23.
