Appalachian State Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Schedule Announced

The Sun Belt Conference and App State announced their 2024-25 conference schedule. The 18-game schedule includes nine games at the Holmes Convocation Center against conference opponents, where the Mountaineers went undefeated last season.

The Mountaineers will open Sun Belt play on Dec. 18 against Louisiana, before hosting Troy in their conference opener on Jan. 2.

Other notable home games include games against James Madison on January 11, against Georgia State on February 1, and a home series against Georgia Southern and Marshall on February 20 and February 22 that will close out the home schedule.

App State will also welcome Southern Miss to the Holmes Center on Feb. 5. It will be the Golden Eagles’ first visit to the Holmes Center and their first trip to Boone since 1991.

Coach Kerns and his team will open the 2024-25 season at the Holmes Center on November 4 against the Miami (OH) RedHawks as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge, the first meeting between the two teams.

After the regular season ends, the Mountaineers will head to the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida, for the Sun Belt Tournament, which is scheduled to begin March 4. The tournament winner will earn a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

The 2024-25 conference schedule includes 12 games against Sun Belt East Division opponents. The Mountaineers were undefeated last season against Sun Belt East opponents and are 35-14 (.714 winning percentage) against East Division opponents in the Dustin Kerns era.

App State will enter the 2024-25 season as the reigning Sun Belt regular-season champion after posting a Sun Belt-best 16-2 record last season, the program’s first regular-season conference title since 1978-79. The Mountaineers were one of 13 teams in the country with at least 16 conference wins in the 2023-24 season.

Additionally, the Mountaineers were one of 12 teams in NCAA Division I to go unbeaten at home. Entering the 2024-25 season, the Mountaineers have the 10th-longest home winning streak in the country and have not lost a game at Holmes Convocation Center since Feb. 18, 2023.

The 2024-25 roster will feature two experienced returning starters in C.J. Huntley and Myles Tate, as well as an experienced group of newcomers and three freshmen. App State has five consecutive seasons with a .500 win percentage or better for the first time since 1987-92.
