UGC Chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah Resigns

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah resigned from his post today (August 11).

Prof Shahidullah is currently in Australia. He has submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education in absentia, informed Prothom Alo.

The professor cited health issues as the reason for his resignation, saying: “I resigned on the advice of my doctors. I have been living in Australia for medical reasons since last year.”

Before becoming the UGC chairman, Shahidullah was the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the National University.

Professor Muhammad Alamgir, a member of the UGC, has been serving as the acting chairman of the UGC in the absence of Shahidulla for a long time.
