India adds to GCC complex and PM’s residence – FBC News

The Indian government is expanding its support for solar power to more homes and institutions in Fiji in a bid to harness the country’s renewable energy potential.

Indian High Commissioner Palaniswamy Karthigeyan said India has committed to providing solar power to the residences of all heads of state in the region and has done the same for the residence of Fiji President Ratu Williame Katonivere.

He added that India has also extended the initiative to the Grand Council of Chiefs complex and the Prime Minister’s residence.

“In Fiji, we have already installed solar power at the President’s House, Chief Kubuna’s residence on Bau Island and the GCC Hall. We will soon be launching the system at the Prime Minister’s official residence.”

The Indian High Commissioner stressed that India is aware of the impacts of climate change and is committed to providing adaptation support where needed.
