“We continue the operation”

In the wake of the events in the Kursk region of Russia, the Supreme Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, stated that Ukraine is continuing the operation.

“We continue the operation!” Syrskyi said in the description of the photo posted on his Telegram channel.

However, he did not provide any details.

On August 6, Russian Telegram channels reported fighting on the border with Ukraine in Kursk Oblast, noting that the Ukrainian military had allegedly “entered” the region.

The Ukrainian military has not issued any official statement on the matter.

Commenting on the events in Kursk, European Commission spokesman for foreign policy Peter Stano said that under international law, Ukraine has the legitimate right to defend itself, including to strike an aggressor on its territory.

On August 8, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Ukrainian troops for capturing Russian troops, emphasizing that the last three days had been “especially productive.”
