Billie Eilish, HER, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg to Perform at LA28 Handover Ceremony

LA28 has revealed the star-studded musical lineup for the LA28 Handover, which will take place during the Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony finale on August 11. The ceremony will feature performances from artists including Grammy and Oscar winner Billie Eilish, Grammy winner Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg, Southern California music icon and NBCUniversal correspondent for the Paris Olympics. Grammy, Oscar and Emmy winner HER will perform the US national anthem live in Paris. The Closing Ceremony, including the LA28 Handover, will air live and in primetime on NBC and Peacock.

“This is the biggest moment in LA28 history to date as the Olympic flag crosses from Paris to LA,” said LA28 Chairman and President Casey Wasserman. “We are thrilled to showcase the best of LA with local artists and are grateful to Billie, HER, Chili Peppers and Snoop for partnering on what will be an incredible show for a global audience that will give fans a taste of what’s to come in 2028.”

“The countdown to LA28 begins with the Closing Ceremony in Paris,” said Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Programming. “As we wrap up one of the most spectacular Games in history, Paris will hand over the Olympic flag to Los Angeles, which will kick things off with a powerhouse lineup of musical superstars who will rock the world. But the party doesn’t stop there. Following the Closing Ceremony, LA28 invites America to watch the world’s biggest beach party on NBC and Peacock.”

A blockbuster cast of California musical artists headline the LA28 Handover, which will showcase LA28 to the world by combining LA’s culture of entertainment, diversity and creativity with sports at its center. Joining the lineup will be Team USA Olympians, including two-time Olympic medalist skater Jagger Eaton, mountain biker Kate Courtney and track and field gold medalist Michael Johnson. Eaton, Courtney and Johnson traveled with LA28 throughout the Games, each wearing a custom-designed LA28 emblem released in July.

The event, which will feature additional surprise guests, is produced by Fulwell 73 Productions under the creative direction of Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Ben Winston.

“The LA28 handover promises to showcase the heartbeat of LA—which, like the Olympics, is a place where people from all over the world come to pursue their dreams,” said Winston. “We hope to showcase a collection of Los Angeles stories—featuring the city’s people, creativity, music, and, of course, sports, all wrapped in a touch of Hollywood magic—to invite the world to LA28.”

In addition to the closing ceremony, later that evening NBC and Peacock will present Autodesk’s “Countdown to LA28” event, presented by Visit California.

The LA28 Countdown will be hosted by five-time Olympic medalist, tennis champion and entrepreneur Venus Williams. The show will feature extended musical performances, a sneak peek at the LA28 Games, and behind-the-scenes footage from the LA28 Handover. Special guests include Olympic legends Carl Lewis and Sugar Ray Leonard, as well as USA Water Polo Hall of Fame inductee Brenda Villa and Paralympic swimmer and five-time medalist Rudy Garcia-Tolson.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Closing Ceremony will air live on Sunday, August 11 at 3:00 PM ET/12:00 PM PT and in primetime at 7:00 PM ET/PT. The LA28 Countdown will air after the Closing Ceremony at 10:00 PM ET/PT. All programming will air on NBC and Peacock.
