UT launches updated safety app to kick off school year

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The University of Tennessee is putting student safety first and announced the release of the updated Safe at UT mobile app ahead of the start of the fall 2024 semester.

“The app will allow students, faculty and staff to report a variety of issues to appropriate officials, from broken lights to security threats to public safety concerns to bullying to troublesome peers,” said Brian Gard, director of emergency management at the University of Texas.

Updated Safe at UT app features include:

  • Friend’s Walk
  • Contact UT Police via emergency call or text message
  • Access to Wellness Resources
  • Parking and Transportation Maps/Resources
  • Mobile blue light
