E-commerce Transformation: Shiprocket Partners with Snowflake to Deliver Faster, Real-Time Insights to SMB Merchants

E-commerce shipping company Shiprocket has partnered with global AI cloud company Snowflake to improve data infrastructure for its 1.5 lakh merchants.

The strategic partnership, Gurugram-based Shiprocket said, aims to streamline data operations, deliver real-time insights, and significantly reduce data turnaround time from days to minutes. The partnership will enable merchants to make data-driven decisions quickly, optimize operations, and improve customer experiences. Additionally, Snowflake AI data cloud platform allows merchants to effortlessly scale their data infrastructure.

Through this partnership, Shiprocket aims to leverage advanced AI applications to increase user interaction and accessibility for its merchant community spread across the country, which will increase the efficiency of their e-commerce operations.

Sunil Kumar, CTO, Shiprocket, predicts that the partnership with Snowflake will have a “transformational impact” on their business within 12-18 months. The partnership will significantly increase the company’s data processing capabilities, which will translate into immediate insights and drastically reduce data processing time.

“For example, MSMEs using Shiprocket will be able to quickly analyze sales trends and customer preferences, allowing them to quickly adjust inventory and marketing strategies. This instant access to data ensures they can quickly respond to market needs, optimizing operations and increasing customer satisfaction. Overall, this partnership will provide all our merchants with the agility and intelligence they need to thrive in a competitive e-commerce environment,” he added.

According to Vijayanta Rai, Managing Director, Snowflake India, the AI data cloud provides a scalable, cost-effective and secure platform that can support Shiprocket’s diverse data needs to drive business value. Saahil Goel, Managing Director and CEO, Shiprocket, calls the partnership a game-changer for the company’s 1.5 lakh active merchant community. This community collectively generates an annual GMV of over $3 billion, he says. Shiprocket, which claims to be the largest e-commerce enablement platform in India, says that the partnership with Snowflake has effectively addressed numerous data management challenges. “The platform offers on-the-fly scalability, allowing us to seamlessly adjust our resources, which ensures cost-efficiency by charging only for the time when these resources are actively being used. Snowflake’s unique architecture supports high concurrency, boosting query performance without data conflicts. Automatic maintenance and intelligent separation of storage from compute operations streamline our cost management. “Continuous data integration without impacting performance further solidifies Snowflake’s role in advancing our data-driven strategies,” he explains.

Data, which is often underutilized by small business owners, is a key factor in this case, he added. The partnership provides 1.5 lakh merchants with faster access to data, enabling them to make informed decisions quickly.

“Retailers will benefit from real-time insight into sales trends, inventory levels, and customer behavior, which can optimize their supply chain and personalize marketing strategies. For example, understanding peak sales periods and customer preferences can help retailers adjust their inventory and marketing efforts accordingly, leading to better sales and customer satisfaction,” Goel adds.

Kumar says that how Shiprocket sees AI’s role evolving in e-commerce is that AI will enhance personalized shopping experiences, optimize supply chain management, and improve customer service through advanced chatbots and virtual assistants. “We foresee significant advances in predictive analytics, enabling companies to more accurately anticipate consumer needs and tailor their offerings accordingly,” he adds.
