iOS 18 Developer 6, Public Beta 4 Updates Rolling Out to iPhone: Everything That’s New

iOS 18 Developer Beta 6 and Public Beta 4 for iPhone have been released by Apple. Like previous beta updates, both bring a few changes that Apple didn’t show off at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10. There are tweaks to the user interface (UI) of apps like Apple Music, and there’s now a dedicated Control Center button to toggle Bluetooth instead of having to go to grouped connectivity options.

iOS 18 Update Features

According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 18 Public Beta 4 introduces new splash screens that appear when you first open apps like Home, Notes, and Photos after the update. Additionally, the Browse tab in Apple Music, which lets users browse artists, genres, albums, and playlists, has been renamed New.

One of the most minor but very welcome additions is a dedicated Bluetooth control toggle for the iPhone Control Center. With its introduction, users can turn Bluetooth on/off and access other controls by simply opening a window. Before the update, this first required digging into the connectivity options.

There have also been improvements to app icons. When Dark Mode is enabled, app icons in notifications will match the theme instead of following the standard Light Mode theme. Additionally, users can now create custom shades for each home and lock screen combination. They can save app shade settings along with their wallpaper and change them by simply long-pressing the home screen and swiping through the saved ones.

Other updates

In addition to iOS 18 Developer Beta 6, Apple also rolled out the sixth developer beta updates for iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. In addition, the fourth public beta updates for the aforementioned firmware have also been rolled out, supporting Apple devices such as iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and more. Its rollout also coincides with the release of iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 2 with Apple Intelligence features.
