Virginia Tech Airport Receives More Than $250K in Federal Funding

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport has received $253,626 Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (both Democrats from Virginia) announced Tuesday that federal funding for maintenance and repairs is planned to be reduced.

According to senators, the funds will be used to repair 33,333 square yards of asphalt and 2,500 feet of taxiway, with a focus on maintaining the structural integrity of the pavement.

“Nearly 14,000 flights pass through Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport each year — helping Virginians get where they need to go and local businesses thrive,” the senators said. “This funding will improve the airport’s footprint and help sustain operations for years to come. We look forward to continuing to strengthen infrastructure and support economic growth throughout the New River Valley.”

The funding is provided through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvements Program, which is part of $76 million allocated to fund 45 Virginia airports under bipartisan infrastructure legislation.
