Kentucky football guard Chip Trayanum breaks hand, could miss 1-2 games: report

Kentucky Wildcats quarterback Chip Trayanum broke his hand during a recent football practice and is expected to miss several weeks of action, according to KSR.

The injury could sideline Trayanum for up to four weeks, including up to two games at the start of the 2024 football season.

If so, Trayanum will not be eligible to play in Kentucky’s season opener against Southern Miss on Aug. 31, nor potentially in the SEC opener against South Carolina on Sept. 7.

His absence would have a negative impact on the offensive capabilities of a Kentucky team that emerged as one of the program’s most important offseason acquisitions.

Trayanum joined the Kentucky football team in the offseason as a transfer, signing with UK from Ohio State, where he played in 12 games as a backup quarterback a year ago.

He finished his career as the Buckeyes’ second-leading rusher with 373 yards on 85 attempts, scoring three touchdowns and averaging 4.4 yards per attempt.

For his career, Trayanum totaled 1,157 yards and 13 touchdowns.
