New guidelines for the so-called “green industry” have been introduced

GI 3 Green System: Industrial factories must conduct self-assessments through Thailand i4.0 Checkup to assess readiness for Industry 4.0 and DIW Safety Application to ensure compliance with safety regulations. In addition, factories must demonstrate reduced greenhouse gas emissions resulting from their environmental plans and continuously develop these plans.

GI 4 Green Culture: Industrial factories must achieve Green Industry Level 3 certification and CSR-DIW Continuous or CSR-DPIM Continuous certification or undergo verification of compliance with social responsibility standards (TIS 26000-2553 or ISO 26000-2010). They must also prepare reports on the organization’s carbon footprint and conduct activities aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating continuous improvement under normal conditions.

GI 5 Green Network: Factories certified at Green Industry Level 4 must promote a green supply chain. If the supply chain has significant environmental impacts, it must be at GI Level 3 or higher. Non-factories that have environmental impacts must implement measures to control or reduce those impacts, propose a carbon neutrality or net zero emissions plan, and demonstrate the distribution of revenues to communities with an average satisfaction rating of at least 80%.

Measures to implement the new guidelines include public relations, training and seminars to prepare business operators, develop IT systems and implement the new guidelines. DIW will work with agencies that provide benefits to companies with a GI Level 3 or higher certificate, covering investment, procurement and facilitating machine registration.

It is also working to improve access to credit from state financial institutions. There are currently 62,979 registered factories, of which 56,221 are Green Industry certified, which is 89%. The breakdown includes 49,094 at GI 1 level, 3,155 at GI 2 level, 3,450 at GI 3 level, 454 at GI 4 level and 68 at GI 5 level.
