PowerSchool Brings AI to Middle East and Africa Classrooms

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates

PowerSchool (NYSE: PWSC), a leading provider of cloud-based educational software in North America, announced continued growth in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, including new partnerships with leading schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and Lebanon. These schools have selected PowerSchool to help them implement some of their most important strategic initiatives, such as improved communication and streamlined administrative processes in their communities.

This expansion in the MEA region underscores the growing global trend of adopting AI-based solutions and providing effective interventions to students. Schools are increasingly rethinking their education systems and modernizing teaching approaches to accommodate personalized learning and significantly improve student outcomes.

“We are excited to see the strong demand for our solutions, especially our latest AI tools like PowerBuddy and MyPowerHub, in the Middle East and Africa. Given our deep investments in the region, we are uniquely positioned to deliver best-in-class solutions tailored to educators that will enable them to deliver high-quality education for generations to come,” said Stewart Monk, Senior Vice President and General Manager, International, PowerSchool. “In our conversations with schools across the Middle East and Africa, we have found that successful education reform requires data-driven and collaborative leadership. Many schools in the region are still operating within traditional systems, but there is a shift toward competency-based learning and the adoption of advanced technologies, and we are excited to be a part of this transformation.”

Two prominent schools in the UAE are the latest to adopt PowerSchool solutions designed to enhance the educational experience and modernize data analytics across their campuses. GEMS Al Khaleej International School in Dubai has adopted PowerSchool’s student information system (SIS) to streamline administrative workflows. In Abu Dhabi, Maplewood Canadian International School is now the first in the UAE to adopt PowerSchool PowerBuddy, a generative AI-powered assistant that delivers personalized insights, supports engagement, and creates a supportive environment for everyone at every stage of their educational journey. Additionally, Maplewood is implementing PowerSchool’s learning management system, Schoology Learning, and MyPowerHub, which provides parents with a centralized place to view comprehensive student progress and development data. Once implemented, both schools will have additional tools to digitally manage data across their systems, support paperless processes, and perform other administrative functions through connected technology.

In an effort to automate manual processes and reduce duplication, Al Bayan School is the first school in Lebanon to integrate PowerSchool SIS. The school will also implement PowerBuddy and other PowerSchool products into its system.

“In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing reliance on technology in education, our school began a thorough search for a partner that could comprehensively address our needs,” said Hussein Abdel Sater, Vice President General of Albayan Schools in Lebanon. “After a rigorous evaluation process, PowerSchool was identified as the optimal vendor solution that perfectly aligns with our educational vision. We are enthusiastic about the potential benefits their solutions offer, expecting them to streamline our administrative processes, improve communication, and ultimately support our commitment to providing high-quality educational experiences to our students, teachers, and parents. By choosing PowerSchool, we believe we can maintain our position at the forefront of educational innovation.”

Similarly, Salahaldin International School in Egypt sought to modernize outdated systems that lacked analytics, consolidated views, and data dashboards. To address these challenges, the school turned to PowerSchool to help digitally transform its ecosystem. By implementing innovative solutions, including PowerSchool SIS, Analytics & Insights, and PowerBuddy, the school now boasts a unified, user-friendly learning management system with robust customization capabilities.

Recognizing the significant growth potential and increasing demand for educational technology solutions in the UAE and across the GCC region, PowerSchool opened its Dubai headquarters in 2023. This year, it launched PowerSchool in Arabic, a localized platform tailored to the region that includes comprehensive translation as well as multiple localization features, including right-to-left user interface orientation and a Hijri calendar.

PowerSchool empowers over 60 million students in over 90 countries around the world with intuitive solutions that enhance security, centralize access to comprehensive data, and improve student outcomes through AI-powered, personalized learning.
