EAM S Jaishankar welcomes German MPs to India

New Delhi (India), August 14 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday welcomed German parliamentarians Jurgen Hardt and Ralph Brinkhaus to India.

In a post on X, the Foreign Minister said: “Good conversation with the members of the German Bundestag @juergenhardt and @rbrinkhaus today in Delhi. I appreciate their strong and consistent support for the development of ties. We also exchanged views on the development of our regions.” Earlier on August 12, the German Embassy in India, in cooperation with Fraunhofer, organized a conference titled “Sustainability: A Technological Imperative for Our Future: German Innovations in India” in New Delhi on Monday.

The event was a milestone in deepening the technology and sustainable innovation links between India and Germany. It was attended by top German industry leaders and produced a scientific publication.

The conference was attended by CEOs and executives of leading German companies, including Mercedes Benz, SAP, MERCK, Continental, Daimler Truck, FESTO, Siemens Healthineers, Bosch Global Software Technologies and Infineon.

The key highlight of the event was the release of a knowledge paper titled “From India to the World: How India Can Transform into a Global Product Development and Innovation Hub”. This comprehensive paper was co-authored by Anandi Iyer, Director, Fraunhofer India; Soumya Gopinathan, Mercedes Benz Research Development India; and Dr. Fabian Hecklau, Fraunhofer Institute of Production Systems and Design Technology, Berlin. The paper provides insights and recommendations on how India can leverage its potential to become a global leader in product development and technology innovation.

On August 13, German Ambassador Phillip Ackerman was present at the joint exercise Tarang Shakti in Silur, Tamil Nadu.

The German Air Force is taking part in the Tarang-Shakti exercise with NATO partners France, Spain and the UK. It was the first time that German forces had conducted an exercise with India.

“These guys are absolutely amazing! Amazing air show in Sulur, tightly integrated. Great moment to see Eurofighter silhouette in the Indian sky! TarangShakti – next level military cooperation for a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific,” Ambassador Ackerman said. (ANI)
