Woman says man from dating app targeted her, came to her home uninvited: Highland Heights Police Blotter

Unwanted Guest: North Legend Court

A woman reported that on Aug. 11, a man she met on a dating app showed up at her home uninvited. She claimed she had not given him her address.

Police unsuccessfully attempted to contact the 72-year-old Strongsville man to inform him that the woman did not wish to have any further contact with him.

Drunk Driving: Interstate-271

On August 7, a vehicle drove off the road and stopped at a road sign.

Officers arrived on scene and determined the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. They conducted sobriety tests on him, which came back poorly.

The man did not want to provide his personal details, however the registered owner of the vehicle was contacted, who explained that she had recently sold him the car and that he had just made the final payment.

Once identified, the 50-year-old Erie man was charged with driving under the influence (OVI) and cited for failure to control, driving with a suspended license and possession of fictitious plates. He was taken to the hospital at his own request.

He was also found to be wanted on an arrest warrant.

Minor Complaints: Miner Road

On August 7, a resident reported finding a small child sitting on the porch of his home.

Officers checked nearby homes and the Goddard School and determined that the child lived several houses away.

The girl was reunited with her mother without any incidents.

Disruption: Brainard Road

On August 8, a female caller reported that she had just arrived at the home of a friend who asked her to call 911.

The police who arrived at the scene determined that the 17-year-old girl had argued with her mother because her younger siblings had taken a gift from her grandmother and did not want to return it.

Officers helped resolve the matter without further incident.

Disruption: Ford Road

Police went to the home at approximately 9 p.m. on August 8 in response to a report of a woman arguing with her father after she went home to collect her personal belongings.

Lyndhurst police provided mutual aid to the couple after reports emerged that the father had said he would shoot anyone who came to the house.

The situation was resolved without violence. Officers helped the woman gather some of her belongings and arranged for the officer to return the next day to collect the rest of her belongings.

The 58-year-old father was informed about the arrest warrant and promised to look into it.

Domestic Violence: Stanwell Drive

A 16-year-old boy was charged with domestic violence on August 8 following an argument with his 18-year-old brother at their home.

He was handed over to his mother, who agreed to let him return home for the night.
