Walmart CEO Eager to Help Customers Save Not Just Money, But Time

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said the discount retailer’s top priority, in addition to lower prices, is helping customers across income groups save time.

This appears to be a recognition of the company’s e-commerce business, which Walmart says has seen increased penetration across all segments of its business.

“Global e-commerce sales increased 21%, driven primarily by in-store pickup and delivery and marketplace sales,” the company said.

Within business segments, e-commerce sales increased 22% at Walmart US, 18% at Walmart International and 22% at Sam’s Club US

E-commerce’s contribution to Walmart US’s 4.2% comparable-store sales growth was about 3 percentage points.
