BOI Introduces Incentives for Clark Locators Switching to Renewable Energy

The Board of Investments (BOI) has encouraged residents of the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga to switch to renewable energy, saying they are eligible for incentives under the law.

BOI hosted a “Make REshift Happen” roadshow for Clark Freeport residents to promote incentives for energy efficiency and conservation projects.

Some 17 representatives from Clark manufacturing plants attended the tour to familiarize themselves with the new guidelines for the registration of such projects under Republic Act No. 11285.

The series of promotional meetings underscores BOI’s commitment as a leading investment promotion agency to supporting cooperation among investment promotion agencies.

BOI Director Maria Rosario Dominguez praised Clark Development Corp. for being the first IPA to host a session for its locators.

She said the session aimed to promote energy efficiency and energy conservation policies to encourage businesses to adopt these practices. She added that this will contribute to the Philippines’ transition to a green and resilient economy.

Dominguez emphasized the critical role of renewable energy projects in increasing energy efficiency and reducing energy demand. She said energy efficiency and energy conservation are essential to increasing competitiveness and contributing to a sustainable global economy.

“This session is part of our ongoing efforts to gradually transition to renewable energy, supported by a strong partnership between the government and the private sector,” she said.

CDC CEO Agnes Devanadera stressed the importance of the campaign informing companies about available incentives to switch to renewable energy.

“We are fortunate to have this forum. It is the right time to discuss this because we recognise the critical role of the energy sector,” she said.

“With the combined efforts of our trackers and the private sector, there is no reason we won’t succeed. This forum is not just about spreading the word – it’s about taking actionable steps,” Devanadera said.
