Harris-Walz campaign launches new WhatsApp channel to reach Latino voters

On Monday, the Harris-Walz campaign created a WhatsApp messaging channel aimed at reaching Latino voters.

The launch of the channel is one of several ways Vice President Kamala Harris and her vice presidential candidate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are using their campaign to ensure their message is shared as the presidential election approaches.

Millions of people share information — good and bad — every day across social media platforms. The channel, which will be “the first of its kind in a presidential election,” was created with the intention of being a tool to combat disinformation, according to a campaign press release.

“This is a place where you can go and get behind-the-scenes information, what Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are doing to offer our Latino family and more,” campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a video.

The app is used by over 100 million users in the US every day.
