Big e-commerce is squeezing out small shops, says Indian minister

India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said Wednesday that the rise of large e-commerce companies such as Amazon.com Inc. is threatening to close about 100 million small, mom-and-pop stores in the country.

“I don’t think it’s something to be proud of that half of our market could be part of e-commerce in 10 years,” Goyal said. “It’s something to be concerned about.”
