Microsoft’s Unified Teams App Now Available — Redmondmag.com

News

Microsoft Unified Teams is now available

This update, available in preview since March of this year, combines work, personal, and education accounts into one Teams app, simplifying the way users connect and collaborate across different areas of their lives, according to Microsoft.

Previously, Windows 11 users had to manage two separate Teams apps—one for work or education and one for personal use. The new unified app eliminates duplication by allowing users to access multiple accounts from a single interface. To switch between accounts, users can select their profile picture in the top right corner of the app. The app will open each account in side-by-side windows for navigation.

Microsoft has also made it easier for users to jump between multiple Teams accounts. “In addition, we know that many users have multiple Teams accounts, so we’ve made it easier to select your preferred account when joining a Teams meeting,” Microsoft wrote. “You can also join as a guest without signing in. Whether you’re joining a call to connect with a client or discuss a fundraiser for your school, simply select your preferred account when you join the meeting.”

Teams personal app is now available to all Windows and Mac users.

Enterprises looking to hop into the new unified app can have IT perform the upgrade. All previous admin login restrictions will still apply to the new app.

For personal Teams accounts, the desktop app will be automatically updated for current users and is also available for download on various platforms, including Android and Apple.
