Reuters is looking for a tech policy and antitrust correspondent.

Reuters News Agency is looking for an experienced and ambitious employee Technology Policy/Antitrust Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist) in Washington.

The successful candidate will break news about the ongoing antitrust crackdown on Big Tech, be the first to uncover efforts to regulate AI and report on a range of other consumer protection issues that could impact corporate profits. These are stories on topics ranging from Washington’s efforts to ensure fair AI deployment, the FTC’s antitrust lawsuit against Amazon and exclusives on the next industries under regulators’ radar. Done well and quickly, these are top reads for Reuters LSEG clients and on Reuters.com, especially when we cover news.

The ideal reporter will be able to connect with sources at the Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, with the Washington antitrust legal community, and with corporate lobbyists whose companies face the greatest regulatory threats.

The position also requires legal experience, including litigation and occasional work on Capitol Hill to cover hearings. The position will emphasize how companies interact with the administration and lawmakers and how corporate power and money help determine legislative outcomes. The right candidate will work well with a team of reporters in Washington focused on corporate responsibility, regulation and enforcement.

As our Technology/Antitrust Policy Correspondent (First-Level Journalist) you will:

  • Develop a variety of sources that will lead to sensational information
  • Provide exclusive information that your competitors need to follow
  • Direct and/or amplify coverage of key events
  • Report aggressively to hold companies, lobbyists and regulators accountable
  • Write detailed, in-depth articles on antitrust and technology policy
  • Demonstrate your combat prowess and dominance
  • Work with a global team of experienced reporters and editors covering regulation in the United States, Europe and Asia

About You

Are you suitable for this role? Technology Policy/Antitrust Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist) if your experience includes:

  • At least five years of journalistic experience.
  • Ability to write quickly and accurately under time pressure.
  • Fluency and ability to write about technology and legal matters
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with a variety of colleagues.
  • Experience in antitrust or technology policy is desirable, as well as an existing network of sources.
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.
