Sanibel Island electric bike regulations include speed limits

SANIBEL, Fla. — Changes could soon be coming to shared-use paths on Sanibel, as the City Council recently held a first reading of Ordinance 24-014, which proposes allowing Class II electric bikes on the island.

These electric bikes have a throttle that allows riders to accelerate without pedaling, making them a popular choice for those looking for a little more comfort when cycling. These bikes are usually limited to a maximum speed of 20 miles per hour.
