E-commerce, Engineering, Infrastructure Among Industries Hiring New Workers in India | MorungExpress

New Delhi, August 22 (IANS): The top three industries in the country that are showing a willingness to hire new workers in the second half of this year are e-commerce and tech start-ups, engineering and infrastructure, and retail, according to the report.

A 7% increase in the number of new job applicants compared to July-December 2023, combined with increased demand across sectors, indicates a solid recovery in the labor market.

According to a report by TeamLease EdTeach, the leader is Bengaluru, where 74% of employers intend to hire people without experience, followed by Mumbai (60%) and Chennai (54%).

According to the findings, 72 percent of employers intend to hire new employees in the coming months. The report is based on a survey of over 603 companies in India and indicates a positive trend in the job market for new graduates.

Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO, TeamLease EdTech, said the rise in interest in hiring people without experience is an encouraging sign as it reflects growing confidence among employers and creates valuable opportunities for young talent entering the job market.

The most desired positions among people with no experience have become full-stack developer, SEO manager, digital sales specialist, and UI/UX designer.

According to the report, employers are particularly looking for candidates with skills in cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analysis and search engine optimization.

In addition, graduate traineeships continue to show stable demand. Manufacturing leads with 25 percent of employers planning to hire graduate trainees, followed by engineering and infrastructure with 19 percent, and construction and real estate with 11 percent.

The job market is rapidly evolving, with technology and digital skills taking centre stage. According to Rooj, they see a clear need for roles that combine technical knowledge with creative problem-solving.

The real game changer is the growing awareness of the need for closer partnerships between industry and academia, and the continued demand for postgraduate placements further underlines this shift towards hands-on, interactive learning, he added.
