Maharashtra minister promises red carpet for SMEs, startups to boost transformation of fintech hub

Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant has assured that the state will provide comprehensive support to SMEs and start-ups, likening their treatment to that of very large projects, as part of efforts to transform Mumbai into a global financial technology hub.

Samant made this announcement at the inauguration of the 9th Global Economic Summit on ‘Fintech: Accelerating the Digital Revolution’ organised by World Trade Centre Mumbai and All India Association of Industries (AIAI). He highlighted the potential of fintech to support the financial services sector and boost the economy.

Key government initiatives include reviving ailing industries, investing in innovation, and providing financial and incubation support to startups. The summit also highlighted the rapidly growing fintech ecosystem in Mumbai and the potential for collaboration between Indian and African fintech companies.
