Six alumni of PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, were recognized for their achievements

A special awards ceremony was held in Coimbatore on Friday to honour a group of distinguished alumni of PSG College of Technology who have distinguished themselves through their significant contributions to various fields of science.

The graduates included Anandi Ramalingam, India’s information commissioner; Loganathan Palanisamy, director of engineering at Yahoo; Kalpana Arvind, deputy director at LEOS-ISRO; Suresh Muthuswami, president, North America, Tata Consultancy Services; Albert Thomas, industry supply chain director at Oracle; and Leela Kaza, founder and co-CEO, Bounteous x Accolite.

Speaking at the event, L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, said that the institution has produced over 70,000 alumni. He emphasised the importance of maintaining the traditional educational framework for which PSG is known and praised the faculty and management for consistently creating valuable opportunities for students.

Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani, Chairman, Bharat Forge Ltd., urged students to pursue a career in manufacturing and urged them to focus on innovation and product development. He stressed that India should strive to transform its manufacturing industry from a manufacturing hub to a global innovation hub.

Mr. Kalyani also noted that Coimbatore, with a strong industrial base in textiles, plastics and foundry, has the potential to lead this transformation. He stressed the need for India’s manufacturing sector to keep up with the technological advancements seen in the software industry.
