Google Maps is rolling out a new look for the bottom bar on iPhones. It’s meant to make the app look cleaner by reducing the number of tabs on the screen.

The old Google Maps bottom bar (left) vs. the new one

Previously available only on Android, the new bottom bar reduces the number of tabs from five to three. As noted 9to5GoogleThe “Go” option has been removed, but users can still access it using the new middle “You” tab, via the new “Saved Trips” section.

“You” was previously called “Saved” and retains the same tab icon. Tapping it, however, takes you to an updated page with new top tabs for “Notifications” and “Messages,” both of which share content that was previously in the “Updates” tab, now gone. That leaves “Collaborate” as the last of the three tabs on the main Maps screen.

The rollout is happening in Google Maps version 6.129.1. If you’ve updated and don’t see the new bottom bar, try force-closing the app via the app switcher and then reopening it, which worked for us.
