Do you know?

Between 2021 and 2023, the Royal Malaysian Police (RMPP) investigated as many as 8,011 cases of telephone fraud, resulting in a total financial loss exceeding 440 million ringgit? Alarmingly, in 448 cases, they impersonated Pos Laju employees, which resulted in losses exceeding 27 million ringgit.

In 2024 alone, up to July, there were serious concerns about 87 cases of Pos Laju impersonation, resulting in losses of almost RM3 million. These worrying figures underscore the urgent need to strengthen security measures to combat the growing menace of phone scams.

In response to this crisis, PDRM, Pos Malaysia and Whoscall have joined forces under the national Whoscall #ScamFreeMalaysia initiative to strengthen action against parcel fraud. This collaboration follows a successful first phase of the campaign with PDRM in 2023.

What’s going on?

Whoscall has joined forces with Pos Malaysia to promote the #ScamFreeMalaysia initiative. The partnership is supported by PDRM and includes the registration of all Pos Malaysia operational numbers, including those used by postmen, as “verified numbers” on the Whoscall app. This means that Whoscall users will receive trusted notifications of calls and SMS from Pos Malaysia, significantly reducing the risk of falling victim to phone scams, especially parcel scams.
