How much has Botafogo earned from their Libertadores run so far?

Botafogo’s road to this point shows the intense challenge teams face in this tournament.

Here’s the breakdown of their earnings:

  • They earned US$1.1 million for getting through the prelims,
  • US$3 million for making it to the group stages,
  • US$990K from winning three group matches,
  • US$1.25 million from the round of 16, and,
  • US$1.7 million from making it to the quarterfinals.

Botafogo’s performance has been strong, especially against Palmeiras, winning 2-1 in Rio and 2-0 in São Paulo. Next up, they’re waiting to see if they’ll play São Paulo or Nacional-URU, who tied 0-0 in Uruguay and face off again in São Paulo soon.

The stakes get even higher from here: A win in the semifinals adds US$2.3 million (R$12.4 million) to their earnings. Finalists are guaranteed at least US$7 million (R$37.8 million), and the champion will walk away with US$23 million (R$124.3 million).
