Small business presentations will be presented by the Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center on September 11, 17, 24 and 25.

“Buying a Franchise” will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 11. Sara Matta, a business consultant affiliated with the Duquesne University Small Business Development Center in Pittsburgh with more than a decade of experience in the restaurant industry, will lead the presentation. She will talk about owning a franchise, how the business differs from other small businesses, the business model, franchisor support and franchisor marketing.

On September 17, a presentation is planned on the topic of “Building a Business with AgPlan Online Software.” This webcast is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to noon and will discuss using AgPlan’s online business planning software to support the implementation of business ideas and goals. This workshop will guide participants in creating a business plan to incorporate their vision into their business. The presenter for this training will be Curtis Mahnken, Extension economist with the Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota.

The presentation, “Introduction to Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights at Fargo Patent & Business Law,” will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on September 24. Hosted by Tom Kading, owner of Fargo Patent & Business Law, this webinar will provide an overview of the basics of entities and how intellectual property is used. The presentation will also discuss examples of how businesses have protected and used intellectual property.

On September 25, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., there will be an online discussion with the founder of the Zegacy startup, Adam Zach. He will talk about his experiences in transitioning from engineer to entrepreneur and then business owner.

Zegacy is a sister startup company to Home Equity Partner. Building on his previous success with HEP, Zach founded Zegacy because of the high demand for home ownership amid the challenging economic conditions facing homebuyers, and to help investors deploy their large equity reserves through real estate.
