Amazon India Gives Sellers Reasons to Celebrate the Festive Season: See What the Company Has Changed

Amazon India on Saturday announced plans to reduce selling fees as the festive season approaches. The company said it will reduce fees by up to 12 percent for several product categories on its website during the upcoming season.

This change in selling fees will come into effect from September 9, 2024. The move is aimed at helping sellers increase their product assortment on the e-commerce platform, PTI reported, citing the company. It is expected to help Amazon India further expand in the country.

The fee cut will be between 3 and 12 percent and will greatly benefit sellers on the platform, especially those offering products priced below Rs 500.

Elaborating on the decision, Amit Nanda, Director, Partner Services, Amazon India, noted, “At Amazon, we are invested in supporting businesses of all sizes, from small and medium enterprises to start-ups and established brands. The fee reduction is a direct response to feedback from our sellers, especially small businesses.”

The company further revealed that the decision is being made ahead of the festive season, but the changes are not meant to be temporary. “The reduction in fees will give sellers the opportunity to optimize their operations during the Diwali shopping rush and also after the festive season. Sellers, especially those selling affordable products, will see a significant reduction in fees on Amazon. This will give them the opportunity to reinvest in their businesses to accelerate growth,” the executive explained.

The company is rolling out measures to cash in on the upcoming festive season as Indian consumers gear up to shop and celebrate. Earlier this week, Amazon India announced that it will set up rest stops for its delivery drivers in cities over the next few years as part of its Ashray project.
