Jitendra Singh praises PM Modi for peace in Jammu and Kashmir, highlights major achievements

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decisive leadership in restoring peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh noted that this stability has allowed even senior opposition leaders to enjoy the newfound peace in the region, which was demonstrated during a recent visit to Ahdoos restaurant in Lal Chowk. “This is a proof of the peace and normalcy that has been restored in the region,” Singh noted at a recent event.

“The historic decision to revoke Article 370 has given citizenship rights to the vast population of J-K who were deprived of them for the last seven decades,” said Singh, who holds several posts, including that of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences. According to Singh, Article 370 supporters in J-K have misused the constitutional provisions to serve their political interests.

Singh also pointed out the vested interests of the former ruling parties in JK as the provision allowed them to get elected and form governments with minimal voter support, thus perpetuating dynasty rule. He highlighted the significant changes that have taken place in the last five years since the repeal, especially in democratic processes, governance, development and security.

Singh explained that keeping in mind that the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Panchayat Act were passed by the Congress government but were not implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, the process of democratic decentralisation had stalled due to lack of central funds till 2019. “The credit for bringing peace and development goes to Prime Minister Modi,” Singh said, noting that Modi had instilled confidence among the people of Jammu and contributed to the transformation of the region.

On the backdrop of India’s first National Space Day, Singh spoke about the country’s space journey that began in 1969. He lauded the scientific community for their dedication that made India the first country to land a spacecraft on the South Pole of the Moon. Singh appreciated the political support and leadership of Prime Minister Modi since 2014 for accelerating scientific missions and opening up the space sector to private participation, which has resulted in the creation of nearly 300 space startups.

“Prime Minister Modi has enabled Indian space scientists to fulfil the dream of their founding father, Vikram Sarabhai, by unlocking India’s space sector and creating an environment conducive to innovation,” concluded Singh.
