Arthaland uses FGen services to provide Savya Center with clean energy

Real estate firm Arthaland Corp. has signed another agreement with Lopez-led First Gen Corp. for additional supplies of renewable electricity to power its state-of-the-art Savya Financial Center project in Taguig City.

First Gen said in a statement over the weekend that the new agreement with Arthaland reaffirms the developer’s commitment to transitioning to clean and renewable energy sources to meet all of its property portfolio’s energy needs by 2030, which is part of the real estate firm’s goal to achieve net zero emissions.

Arthaland’s 18-story Savya Financial Center, set to open in 2022, is equipped with features such as energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning, double-glazed low-e glass, low-flow plumbing fixtures and a rainwater collection and recycling system.

Thanks to these solutions, a building can save up to 40 percent on electricity and water consumption.

“We envision Savya Financial Center as a safe, healthy and more productive work environment for all its residents. We have taken great care to ensure 100 percent renewable energy usage to decarbonize the building’s operations, which has a positive impact on people and the planet,” said Oliver Chan, Senior Vice President of Sales, Leasing and Project Marketing at Arthaland and Chief Sustainability Officer.

Savya Financial Center has received preliminary LEED Gold certification and is on track to achieve BERDE certification from the Philippine Green Building Council, WELL Building Standard certification from the International WELL Building Institute, and advanced Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification from International Finance Corp.

The two companies have been working together since 2019, when they first entered into an agreement to supply first-generation renewable electricity to the Arthaland Century Pacific Tower (ACPT).

ACPT is the first building in the world to be certified as a carbon neutral building under the EDGE certification program.

“Arthaland and First Gen share a vision for a decarbonized and regenerative future. We are honored to partner with Arthaland to deliver socio-economic benefits while reducing our environmental impact. As we continue to expand our renewable energy portfolio, we look forward to continuing our partnership with Arthaland on their decarbonization journey,” said Carlo Vega, First Gen’s Vice President of Marketing, Commercial and Economics.

First Gen’s 30 power plants have a combined capacity of 3,668 megawatts (MW), making it also one of the largest independent power producers in the country.
