Buckle sees sales and profits fall in Q2

US clothing chain Buckle’s net income in the second quarter fell to $39.3 million, or 79 cents per share, or 78 cents per share on a diluted basis.

Net sales for the quarter fell 3.4 percent to $282.4 million, while comparable-store net sales fell 6.6 percent. Online sales fell 15.2 percent to $37 million.

Net sales for the first half fell 5.3 percent to $544.9 million, and comparable-store net sales fell 7.7 percent. Online sales for the period fell 14.2 percent to $81.4 million.

For the first six months, net income fell to $74.1 million, or $1.49 per share or $1.48 per share on a diluted basis.
