NVIDIA’s gaming revenue grows, as data center and AI profits beat analyst forecasts

NVIDIA has announced its Q2 2025 financial results, and as expected (or has become the norm lately), the company reported “record quarterly revenue” of $30 billion — up 15% from Q1 2025 and up a whopping 122% from a year ago. Of course, Data Center and AI hardware revenue makes up the bulk of that, at $26.3 billion, up 154% from a year ago.

“Hopper demand remains strong and expectations for Blackwell are incredible,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “NVIDIA delivered record revenue as global data centers ramp up to modernize their entire compute stack with accelerated computing and generative AI.”

Jensen Huang confirmed that “Blackwell samples are being shipped to our partners and customers” and that the anticipation for next-gen AI hardware is “incredible.” However, as someone who reviews gaming GPUs and primarily covers PC gaming industry news, I found it interesting that NVIDIA Gaming revenue also increased.

According to NVIDIA’s announcement, “Gaming revenue was $2.9 billion, up 9% from the prior quarter and 16% year over year.” What makes this interesting? NVIDIA’s “Gaming” revenue and business are inextricably linked to its GeForce and GeForce RTX graphics cards for desktops and laptops. And with everyone else reporting declining gaming hardware sales, from Microsoft to Sony to Nintendo, it’s interesting to see NVIDIA Gaming and GeForce RTX grow.

Thanks to the recent success of games like Blasck Myth: Wukong, PC gaming is looking healthy, and the Steam Hardware Survey results continue to show the growth (and dominance) of NVIDIA GeForce RTX hardware. However, GeForce RTX gaming hardware is also the gold standard for generative AI workloads, and NVIDIA has combined revenues with “Gaming and AI PC” – which could mean that people buying GeForce RTX hardware for AI are making up for the decline in people buying GeForce RTX hardware for PC gaming.

That’s not a bad thing, per se, and NVIDIA cites milestones in bringing generative AI to PC gaming—like its Digital Human ACE technology—as reasons for its gaming division’s continued success. Alondige DLSS is now available in over 600 games and apps.
