Former Chinese securities executive repatriated to face justice

BEIJING — Jiang Chengjun, a former deputy CEO of Haitong Securities and suspected of misconduct in his duties, was detained abroad and deported to China after fleeing in July, according to a statement posted Wednesday on the website of China’s top anti-corruption agency.

Thanks to the active cooperation of international law enforcement agencies, Jiang was captured and repatriated to face justice, according to a statement by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission of the Communist Party of China.

China has pledged to strengthen international cooperation in combating corruption, while maintaining a rigorous approach to ensure that corrupt fugitives are caught and brought to justice no matter where they are.

Jiang has been placed under investigation by the Shanghai Anti-Corruption Agency.
