Pirates claim fifth win in six games

Aug. 28—GREENSBURG — The Pirates tennis team earned its fifth win in six matches, defeating visiting Madison 4-1 on Tuesday.

The Pirates won all of their singles matches, with Mason McNulty winning 6-0, 6-1. Dan Fisse won 6-0, 6-3, and Jacob Duerstock won 6-0, 6-1.

In the No. 1 doubles, Reece Beaver and Jack McKinsey won 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 2 doubles, Reece Chapman and Wade Schutte were defeated 6-0, 6-4.

The Pirates will return to the field on Thursday when they host East Central at 4:30 p.m.

In their earlier matches, the Pirates defeated Jennings County 3-2.

Greensburg won all of its doubles matches. Beaver and McKinsey won the No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-1. In the No. 2 doubles, Chapman and Schutte won 6-2, 6-3. The Pirates’ other point came in the No. 2 singles, where Fisse won 6-2, 6-3.

In No. 1 singles, McNulty lost 6-2, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, Duerstock lost in a super tie-break 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
