Yelp sues Google for alleged antitrust violations, citing previous ‘landmark’ government ruling

Yelp sued Google in federal court in San Francisco on Wednesday for allegedly engaging in anti-competitive practices and “abusing” its monopoly to “dominate” local search and advertising markets.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California by attorneys for Hausfeld, Sathya Gosselin and Swathi Bojedla, accuses the Big Tech giant of violating Section 2 of the Sherman Act and California’s unfair competition law by using its position as the “largest information gatekeeper in existence” to “drive users to its own inferior content in order to increase its massive revenue.”
