ChargePoint Launches Industry-First AI Solution to Improve Driver Experience and Network Reliability

CAMPBELL, Calif. – ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), a leading provider of networked electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, today announced an AI-powered driver assistance tool designed to speed up diagnostics and repairs of charging stations in the field. The software leverages AI for the first time in the EV charging space to identify physical issues with chargers, improving uptime. The software is the latest product of ChargePoint’s ongoing investment in charging station reliability.

The software is user-friendly on the outside but sophisticated on the inside. All a driver has to do when they encounter a broken charging station is submit photos using the improved “report a problem” feature in the ChargePoint app. The app links the problem to the driver’s location and analyzes the images for anomalies, uncovered through multiple inputs used to train the technology for the EV charging domain. Once the software identifies a problem, it passes the information on to ChargePoint’s Network Operations Center, eliminating the need for most on-site inspections and significantly reducing the time to resolution.

“By implementing AI technology that can diagnose hardware issues, ChargePoint has a new, critical tool joining our Network Operations Center to ensure station availability,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint. “This technology will enable us to triage and resolve physical issues that cannot be detected through remote monitoring, demonstrating our commitment to innovation that ensures a reliable charging network.”

Drivers reporting faults will be able to track the repair status in their app, and their report will automatically generate an alert for the station owner, streamlining the repair process, which often requires his authorisation.
