Steph Curry joins Phoenix Suns star in exclusive club

PHOENIX — Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant today joined his former Golden State Warriors teammate Steph Curry in forming an exclusive club of players who have earned $500 million during their NBA careers.

Curry signed a one-year, $62.6 million deal with the Warriors today, meaning he will have $532.6 million through the end of the 2026-27 season, while Durant will have $502.5 million through the end of his season with the Suns.

LeBron James is the No. 1 career earner and the only other player to surpass the $500 million mark, with the potential to reach $580.8 million by the end of next season.

This is also significant for the Suns players on the court, as it appears both Curry and James intend to finish out their careers with the clubs they currently work for.

Durant also could be poised to finish his career in Phoenix, as he has the option to sign a contract extension next summer before he reaches the age-38-plus limit.

Devin Booker could reach $500 million at age 33, as he will earn $389 million over the remainder of his four-year, $220 million contract that begins this season.

Bradley Beal is expected to have just under $467 million at his disposal through the end of his contract in 2026-27.

Many other superstars elsewhere could reach this level in the future, such as Jayson Tatum, Nikola Jokic, and Ja Morant. Up-and-coming talents such as Cade Cunningham, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams could eventually reach this exclusive level.
